Lorena Gallardo, co-founder and Technology and Innovation Manager at ReciVeci, has been selected to represent Ecuador at the One Young World Summit 2023. This summit annually brings together young leaders from around the world to discuss global issues and create solutions that act positively through four axes: climate change, defense of women, mental health and migration.
On this occasion, the call was made at the national level with the objective of selecting 24 representatives from Ecuador, one for each province. There were more than 700 people who applied for this summit, 130 of whom were from Pichincha, the most competitive province in the process. Lorena Gallardo was the winner in Pichincha of the 2023 National Youth United in Action Award, managed by the central government, private companies and foundations to ensure the participation of young people in the event.
In that regard, we congratulate Lorena Gallardo and the young leaders selected to represent us in this edition, who will participate in the summit in October and, upon their return, will become ambassadors for One Young World, sharing their message and promoting leadership in their territories.
As part of the national celebration, on August 17, an award ceremony was held at the Carondelet Palace, with the participation of personalities such as the First Lady, the Minister of Economic and Social Inclusion, Esteban Bernal.
From October 02 to 05, One Young World will bring together young leaders from more than 190 countries and will provide them with the opportunity to participate in speeches, workshops and network. Delegates will return to their territories with the drive to make a difference.
Congratulations, Lorena! who will make visible in this edition of the summit all the lessons learned, successes and steps that we have taken as a social enterprise from ReciVeci to promote a culture of inclusive recycling and circular economy in our country.
