Carishinas by bike trains 12 basic waste pickers in the use of electric bicycles
A group of 12 basic recyclers has received specialized training in the handling of electric bicycles thanks to an innovative project led by the collective Carishinas by Bike, in collaboration with Urban Electric Mobility Initiative (UEMI), through Solutions Plus. For six consecutive Sundays, these women participated in a workshop that consisted of two theoretical and four practical phases, in order to prepare to ride electric cargo bikes, a key tool for their daily work and sustainable mobility.
The initiative seeks to empower women in key roles in urban recycling, and was also supported by Carlos Tacuri, manufacturer of electric bicycles.
In ReciveCI, we are happy to have linked 5 basic recyclers to this project. Thanks to Carishinas by bike, the participants had the opportunity to learn a new skill and connect with feelings of freedom, autonomy and companionship.
